Oh wait. Just a note to clear up some possible confusion. Corfu is the name of the island and the name of the island's largest town. We are staying in the town of Corfu.
Also, photos that are in portrait mode, or vertical, sometimes get automatically rotated by Blogger and I can't undo it. I apologize for you having to twist your head to view them.
That's it. Now the photos.
RISD and Harvard? Where are we again? Hmm, I thought it was Greece, but maybe it's New England?
This is an osage-orange, also known as a horse apple or hedge apple. It's large, about the size of a softball. From the web, "The osage orange is a member of the mulberry family and is not actually an orange or an apple. The fruit of the osage orange tree is green and can be about four to five inches in diameter. The fruit is filled with hundreds of smaller fruits and some say it looks like a brain."
Okay then. Moving on.
A view of Corfu's Old Fort, across the Garitsa Bay. The rain is coming. You can see it in the clouds. Tomorrow we have a storm warning with high winds, lots of rain, and possible flooding. Oh joy.
A restored windmill (click for more info) that has reeealy skinny blades. It likely dates from the Venetian era, when Venice ruled Corfu from the mid-14th century to the late 18th century.
The next two photos highlight a spa experience that we tried in Istanbul several years ago. Fish nibble at the dead skin on your feet as you soak them in an aquarium like thing. It kinda tickles but your feet feel really soft afterwards. Would recommend.
The next two photos were taken in a coffee shop. The lamps remind me for some reason of my sister-in-law Cyndy to whom I'm sending extra hugs.
After walking around the bay, we got caught in a rainfall, despite the weather channel saying there would be no rain. We took an Uber home, and right now, we're treated to a singer doing her warm up exercises. She has a beautiful voice. Here's a short, dark video that you should treat as if it is only audio, so turn up your volume and listen to the rain falling and the singer doing her exercises.
Finally, we came upon this bar, Iznogood. Great name, huh? I'm sure it's good, despite the name.
Carol
