Day 14 Paros's Little Sister Antiparos

Today we drove to the southern part of the island, to the smaller port town of Pounda (sometimes spelled Pounta) to catch a car ferry to Antiparos, a little island just a seashell's toss from Paros. It cost €1.50 per person, one way, plus €7.30 for our rental car. For €21 total we got roundtrip tickets for us both plus a car. And it took like 10 or 15 minutes.  Super quick. Super views!

This is the harbor on Antiparos. 

Our first destination was the Cave of Antiparos. It's located in a mountain, so the view from there was spectacular. 

It was pretty cool in the cave, figuratively and literally. You walk down 411 steps to get to the bottom, and in order to exit the cave? You have to climb up those same 411 steps.

In this photo, you see the large stalagmite? To the left of it, you can see a teeny tiny Nick, highlighting how massive that stalagmite is. It's reported to be the most ancient in all of Europe.

Next we motored off in search of a beach. They're not too hard to find here. We ate lunch (Greek bread, Greek tomatoes, Greek cheese, Greek olives).

Then we just drove around the parts of the island with the narrowest of roads with often deplorable surfaces, at least it seemed that way. However those same crappy roads led us to some beautiful vistas so it was worth it.

Little churches exactly like this are all over Paros and Antiparos. 

We returned to the town where Sgt Nick lined up his troop of geese, while the swan kept a lookout.

Sunset came and so we found a really good restaurant for supper. I would commit multiple acts of unlawful deeds if I could only have their recipe for their special chickpeas dish. 

Time to take the ferry  back to the island of Paros, and drive to our town, Naousa, on the north side.
