Day 1 Arrival in Greece

Our 9-hour flight was uneventful and arrived in Athens a few minutes early despite departing about 40 minutes late due to lack of a pilot. We had five hours until our flight to Corfu departed so we left the airport terminal and went outside in the warm sun.
Flying from Athens to Corfu, we were treated to the awesome views of the rugged landscape. I had no idea that Greece was so mountainous. There was only a small spit of land that resembled a plain where crops could grow.

And the water color: the bluest blue, often edged in turquoise near the shore. Stunning!
Our apartment for the next week is small, cute, and right on the waterfront. After our hosts gave us the rundown of the place, Nick and I went in search of the supermarket to buy things for tomorrow's breakfast, including Greek yogurt (well, duh!) and muesli. Then we went exploring Corfu's Old Town. It isn't all that big, but it does have quite a few streets and walkways that go up hill and down with alarming regularity.

I am way too tired to continue writing any more this evening or to fix the photo that is all kittywampus (is that even in the dictionary? ). I vow to do better tomorrow.

And now it's 7:15 pm, my teeth are brushed and a bed is calling to me. Jetlag be gone!
